The Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg has the pleasure of inviting you to the on-line Citizens ́ Dialogue with Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, hosted on 15 May 2020 by the European Commission Representation in Ireland.
This event, which is jointly organised by the Institute of International and European Affairs and the European Commission Representation in Ireland, will take place via the Zoom platform. In his address, Commissioner Schmit will reflect on the employment and social measures recently agreed at EU level to protect those most at risk of detrimental social and employment conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will outline some of the Commission's forthcoming proposals to support a fair and sustainable recovery with people at its centre, including those to tackle youth unemployment, fight poverty, and invest in workers’ skills for a greener and more digitalised future.Finally, he will reflect on plans for the further implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights, proclaimed in 2017, and for which the Commission will present a new Action Plan in 2021.Please note that this event takes place in English and no interpretation will be provided.
